I've been training BJJ for 15+ years and have been teaching it for over 12 years. I train with Jay Butler, Jay is a Black Belt from Roger Gracie and is a high level competitor & multiple gold medalist, who has competed on Polaris & Grapplefest as well as being a veteran MMA fighter competing on BAMMA. We are an affiliated club with Jay visiting our club to teach on a regular basis.

Fascinated by martial arts from an early age, I've trained multiple styles throughout my life. I first started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu properly in 2008 after being exposed to the art and having some experience since 2005 and longing to study it regularly.

Passionate about Jiu-Jitsu from first sight, I've been striving to develop my understanding and ability to the highest levels possible ever since, searching out the most effective and authentic knowledge available and travelling to train with and learn from many world champions and respected legends of the art.

I study and teach the art as a whole, emphasizing both self defence and competition aspects.

As well as being about self-improvement, my motivation for training martial arts is always self defence orientated at its core. As such, I always strive to find the most combat effective techniques and concepts and view competition as a way of testing this.

I love teaching and continuously strive to be the best at it that I can be!

I utilise a friendly patient method of positive reinforcement relating concepts as well as techniques and explain not just what to do but why to do them and why they work in terms of biology, physics, and science. I believe in developing strong fundamental skills to lay a solid foundation upon which you can build.

I believe in always prioritising the development of technique over anything else, such as strength or conditioning. Technique is what Jiu-Jitsu is based upon and is what allows a smaller person to beat a bigger person.

Relying on muscle rather than technique is a short-lived strategy. Strength and conditioning should only be used to augment technical jiu-jitsu, not supersede it, and my teachings and classes reflect this.

As well as BJJ, I train regularly in Boxing, Kickboxing, Judo and Self Defence / Self Protection as well as Calisthenics, Yoga and Weight Training. And have trained in Muay Thai, MMA, Wrestling, Kung Fu, Karate, and Japanese Jiu-Jitsu.
